LuxSci Press ReleaseLux Scientiae, Incorporated Unveils LDAP Shared Address BooksService Allows Remote Address Book Access From Within E-MailBoston, Massachusetts - April 6, 2005 - Lux Scientiae®, Incorporated (LuxSciSM, http://luxsci.com) today became the only premium secure e-mail provider to offer lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) access to shared e-mail address books. The move makes it possible for companies to outsource their e-mail and still have shared address book access from their e-mail clients -- a capability that, until now, has been limited to organizations with the resources to manage their e-mail in-house. "For the first time, centralized, shared address books are accessible remotely by all users, enterprise-wide, in their e-mail client of choice," explained LuxSci president Erik Kangas, Ph.D. "Because the LDAP Address Book Service works with LuxSci's WebMail program, users can also access address books from anywhere via WebMail." The LDAP Address Book Service is compatible with many e-mail clients - including Eudora, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, Thunderbird and Pine - and allows read-only, searchable access to all subscribed address books. The application's "Access Auditing" feature allows users to view detailed histories of their successful and attempted LDAP accesses. For added security, LuxSci supports its LDAP Address Book Service over SSL for those whose e-mail clients support it. Along with the LDAP Address Book Service, LuxSci Enterprise WebAide licenses provide calendars, task lists, bulletin boards, file and document sharing, secure password storage, and many other premium Web-based intranet features - all with detailed sharing and access control features. It makes for a robust collaboration suite that rivals the popular Microsoft Exchange in functionality - and beats it hands-down when it comes to price, said Kangas. "Combined with secure IMAP and SMTP access and the other LuxSci collaboration features, there is less and less reason to use Microsoft Exchange, especially as the cost of ownership of Exchange is so high," said Kangas. "Clients who don't want the expense and hassle of using Microsoft Exchange now have a viable solution." ABOUT LUX SCIENTIAE, INCORPORATED LuxSci has been providing secure, premium e-mail and Web services since 1999.
